Gold Coast Water Tanks

At Southern Cross we've been building and designingwater tanks Gold Coastresidents can rely on for over a hundred years.

Residents of Gold Coast know that they have the support of one of Australia's most recognisable names in water collection and water storage solutions.

Inhabitants of Queensland are mindful of their water storage demands, and because of this, many have, and still look to a Southern Cross water tank to help meet their water storage needs.

Gold Coast is the largest non capital city in Australia, and the area is one of the most rapidly growing metropolitan areas in the country.

Water Storage Challenges

Despite many people still delighting in rainfall, due to modern infrastructure, like bitumen and concrete, large amounts of rain can build up, causing flash flooding, which can cause damage to homes and the environment.

If you set up a water tank and connect it up to a guttering system, you can help lower the build up of water from rainwater run off, and minimise the risk of flash flooding.

Such is the water run off and flood risk in the Gold Coast region, the city has a publicly available flood plan in place to combat any severe storm or cyclone related flooding to hit the area.

Bushfires and the Australian Summer

Regrettably, due to much of Australia's climate, bushfires are a steady risk in the long, hot summers, and Gold Coast is no different. Despite most of the region's rainfall coming in the summer months, the lush grasses and scorching days can quickly cause brushfires.

Thankfully, at Southern Cross we consider ourselves specialists when it concerns fire tanks, and we can provide your property or home with an adequate fire tank to help protect you from bushfires.

After a bushfire it is highly recommended to get your water tested for safety if you're going to be using it for potable or drinking water. Having said that it will still be safe to use for watering the garden or fire security.

The Gold Coast climate

黃金海岸潮濕的亞熱帶cli的經曆mate or Köppen climate classification "Cfa," meaning the area experiences mild to warm winters and hot, humid summers, with more than 250 sunny days a year.

Despite this attractive amount of sunshine, the Gold Coast still receives over 1250mm on average each year, keeping the area verdant and green the year round.

Despite the ideal conditions, agriculture never really took hold in the Gold Coast, and the area has always been seen as somewhat of a holiday destination and tourist town. Tourism contributes more than $4b annually to the Gold Coast economy.

Over 100 years of experience

In 1903, the original Southern Cross windmill was manufactured by the Griffiths family at the Toowoomba Foundry, and soon after so was the first Southern Cross water tank, leaving us with unparalleled experience in dealing with cities like Gold Coast's water storage needs.

With the first Bolted Steel Round Water Tank being produced by Southern Cross in the late 60's, we've been a sanctum for over fifty years of continued innovation.

When Squatter Tanks were introduced to Australia, it provided individuals with a reliable and economical way of storing large amounds of water, and some of these tanks still stand to this day.

As Aussie as a meat pie at the footy

When the Griffiths family created the Southern Cross brand out of the Toowoomba Foundry, they almost certainly didn't know that it would continue on to become such an iconic Australian brand, still in operation over a century later.

Not only does Southern Cross still operate out of Loganholme, we are an Australian owned company, helping Australians from all walks of life, including irrigators, families, schools and many more.

Reliable in a pinch

Misfortune struck the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in 2015, when a water tank built by one of our rivals suffered a devastating structural failure, rupturing the tanks and washing approximately 2.5 million litres of destructive water over Kawana way, even sweeping away a family car.

After this, the site developer reached out to Southern Cross to engineer and build two new tanks for the site, and the quality of these tanks have become a benchmark for many commercial projects from that point to comply with.

Gold Coast Local Knowledge

The Gold Coast metropolitan area is a popular filming spot for Hollywood blockbusters, with films such as Aquaman, Thor: Ragnarok and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales all being shot in the area.

Gold Coast is considered cursed for Australian sporting franchises, with only two of the eleven clubs that have been located in the city still remaining today. None of these teams have ever won a premiership.
